About this quote
From Maxims and Missiles (Maxims and Arrows) no. 33 in Nietzsche's Twilight of the Idols (written 1888, published 1889), in Anthony M. Ludovici's English translation (London: George Allen & Unwin, 1911, as vol. 16 of Oscar Levy's Complete Works). Nietzsche wrote in German, so this is the translator's wording. The maxim continues: "The German imagines even God as a songster."
