Attributed to the Buddha, Dhammapada verse 204 (Muller translation, 1881). The Dhammapada is a collection of verses from the Pali canon. The Buddha wrote nothing himself, and the collection credits the teaching to him. Popular versions ("Health is the greatest gift, contentment the greatest wealth, faithfulness the best relationship") drop the last clause and reword.
