About this quote
Attributed to the Buddha, Dhammapada verse 81 (Muller translation, 1881). The Dhammapada is a collection of verses from the Pali canon. The Buddha wrote nothing himself, and the collection credits the teaching to him. The popular "Just as a solid rock is not shaken by the storm, even so the wise are not affected by praise or blame" is a looser wording.
