Attributed to the Buddha, Dhammapada verse 2 (Muller translation, 1881). The Dhammapada is a collection of verses from the Pali canon. The Buddha wrote nothing himself, and the collection credits the teaching to him. This is the second of the Twin-Verses (verse 1 is the same with an evil thought, and pain follows).
